Edward Hopper could paint the most "boring" scenes and give them life. When I think of him, I think of iconic paintings illustrating American life brimming with both simplicity and captivating detail.
Like this, his best-known piece, Nighthawks. This has been referenced and parodied countless times in American pop culture. I don't know how Hopper managed to create so many quintessentially American images, but he did, and that's why he's one of my favorite artists.
I would share one of my other favorites of his, Automat, but I'm afraid it's copyrighted so I can't. However, I can share the link to its Wikipedia page, where you can see it legally.
