Fine Art Friday: Edgar Degas

When I was little my mom put me in various dance classes--tap, ballet, all that stuff. Around the age of seven I decided to quit dance because it was "too girly" for me. In recent years I've found myself regretting that, but oh well. I'm certainly not going to start now.

However, I have several friends who dance. And one of my favorite artists painted dancers. Can you guess who I'm talking about?

Yes, that's right. Edgar Degas. The ballerina painter.

This is one of my favorites. I like the little old dance instructor int he middle. And I love how the composition works to draw the view into the picture.

These are some of my favorites. Among others. Oh, and Degas didn't just paint dancers. He's just best known for them. He also painted scenes like this:

Among others.
