97 Hearts anatomical heart drawing

97 Hearts. I started this project with little idea where it was headed, and now that I’m well into the series, I’m realizing that I’ve really learned a lot. With 1/4 of the drawings done and another third begun, I’ve moved past the simple things and am reaching more abstract words, like dedicated, forgiven, sarcastic, and (one of my personal favorites) hippydippy.

I knew this project would require a lot of thought, but I don’t think I could have truly prepared myself for the amount of thought and effort it’s taking. I’ve had to think about the nuances between words like active and energetic, persistent and relentless, loved and loving, and to be honest, it’s tiring. It takes a lot of mental energy to think about just how to go about portraying words like dauntless and encouraging.

However, I’m sure the reason you actually clicked the link to this page was not to read about the mental struggle of illustrating potential and willing. You came here to see art, either because you’re a part of this project, you’re friends with my mom, or you happen to think art is sort of cool sometimes. Or maybe you mistyped someone else’s URL; it happens.

So without further ado, I present 22 Hearts:
